Othello school district mourns three students killed in accident

OTHELLO, Wash. — Three Othello High School students died in a tragic accident on Sunday, according to a letter sent to families by Othello School District Superintendent Dr. Pete Perez.

“We are deeply saddened to share that a tragic accident on Sunday took the lives of three of our Othello High School students,” Perez wrote in the letter to the district community. “Our hearts are with their families, friends, and all who knew and loved them.”

The school district has been in contact with the families and will continue to support them during this difficult time, Perez said.

Counseling and mental health supports are available for students and staff at Othello High School and across the district. The superintendent encouraged families to talk with their children and reach out if additional support is needed.

“This loss is being felt across our schools and throughout our community, and we recognize that many are grieving,” Perez said in his letter.

The superintendent asked the community to come together during this difficult time.

“In moments like this, the strength of our community matters deeply,” Perez wrote. “Please continue to look out for one another, keep the families in your thoughts, and respect their privacy.”
