NEZ PERCE COUNTY, Idaho — An Orofino man died in a crash on Highway 12 on Friday night.
According to the Idaho State Police, a male teen from Lewiston was traveling east on Highway 12 around 8 p.m. on Friday when it began to pass a pickup truck being driven by a 71-year-old man from Orofino.
The teen entered the oncoming lane of traffic in order to pass. A semi truck was driving the opposite way toward the car and the pickup truck.
To avoid crashing into the semi, the teen re-entered the eastbound lane and crashed into the pickup.
The driver of the pickup lost control and entered oncoming traffic. The truck hit a Chevy driving the opposite way.
The pickup truck driver died at the scene. The driver of the Chevy was taken to the hospital, treated for minor injuries and released.
No one else was injured in the crash.
