COEUR d’ALENE, Idaho – A former LAPD detective at the center of controversy during the O.J. Simpson case has died in Kootenai County.
Mark Fuhrman investigated the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman and was called to testify about a bloody glove left at the scene.
The defense accused Fuhrman of racial bias, but he denied having ever made racist statements.
The defense then provided recordings of Fuhrman using the n-word.
He was charged with perjury and pleaded no contest, then resigned from the LAPD.
Fuhrman then moved to North Idaho.
For a time, he had a radio show on KXLY 920.
Fuhrman has served as a forensic and crime scene expert for Fox News and other outlets. He has written several books about prominent crimes, including a book about Spokane serial killer Robert Yates.
The Kootenai County coroner’s office confirmed to ABC News that Fuhrman died on May 12th, but provided no further details.
He was 74 years old.
