SPOKANE, Wash. — A Nine Mile Falls man was sentenced to two decades in prison for using hidden cameras to produce child pornography.

According to the U.S. District Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Washington, between May 2021 and May 2022, Robert Wayne Hutton, 60, secretly recorded a child in the bathroom.

The attorney’s office said Hutton placed the camera in a clock radio on the bathroom counter. Hutton then used the footage to produce child pornography.

Law enforcement obtained a search warrant and seized the hidden camera, Hutton’s phone and several computers. The attorney’s office said several videos and images of the minor, along with hundreds of child pornography files, were found on Hutton’s phone and other devices.

Hutton was sentenced to 240 months of imprisonment and a lifetime of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay restitution of $25,000.

“This child predator engaged in behavior that was a betrayal of trust and a heinous exploitation of unsuspecting victims,” said Special Agent in Charge Robert Hammer, who oversees HSI operations in the Pacific Northwest. “Collectively, we cannot tolerate such egregious acts that strip away the dignity of victims and provide the opportunity for revictimization.”

Hutton was convicted in 2009 for Communication with a Minor for Immoral Purposes after he made sexual statements to a 15-year-old girl.
