0

The largest winter storm of the season has hit the Inland Northwest, causing slick road conditions and forcing road closures across the region, including mountain passes.

As heavy snow continues to fall, here’s a look at mountain pass conditions in Washington and Idaho as of 4 p.m. on Jan. 17.

Washington Passes

Blewett Pass: Tractions tires are required through Blewett Pass as compact snow and ice over the roadway. Chains are required on all vehicles over 10,000 gross vehicle weight. All oversized vehicles are prohibited.

For updates on Blewett Pass conditions, visit the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) website.

Snoqualmie Pass: Eastbound I-90 is closed at exit 34 near North Bend due to icy roads and several crashes. Compact snow and ice are on the roadway. If you are driving westbound, chains are required on all vehicles except those with all-wheel drive. All oversized vehicles are prohibited.

If you would like to receive updates on weather conditions on Snoqualmie pass, WSDOT said to text ‘start’ to 85107. For more information, visit the WSDOT website.

Stevens Pass: Stevens Pass is closed in both directions due to heavy snow and multiple spinouts. Westbound traffic is closed at milepost 64 at the summit to milepost 80 near Rayrock. There is no current estimated time for reopening.

Visit the WSDOT website for information on Stevens Pass.

White Pass: White Pass is closed in both directions due to a snow slide. Eastbound traffic is stopped at milepost 151 near the summit. Westbound traffic is stopped at milepost 168, 17 miles east of the summit. There is no estimated time for reopening.
