Moses Lake police receive call regarding potential hostage situation, suspect in custody

MOSES LAKE, Wash. — A 31-year-old Moses Lake man was arrested after police received a call regarding a woman who barricaded inside a home and was held against her will.

On Jan. 24 at 3:15 p.m., Moses Lake police got a call reporting an assault. The caller told dispatchers that a man with a handgun had barricaded a woman inside of his home and was holding her against her will.

As law enforcement arrived on scene they found 31-year-old Enrique Leon and arrested him for an outstanding unlawful possession of a firearm charge.

After a full sweep of the home and surrounding buildings, they did not find a victim.

Two people who were presumed to be associated with this incident were transported to the hospital for minor injuries. At this time Moses Lake police and Grant County Sheriff’s deputies are not sure how or if they are involved.

Law enforcement has determined that this was not a domestic violence incident.

At this time, Enrique Leon is held in Grant County Jail and law enforcement continues investigating.
