MOSCOW, Idaho — Through investigation, a 26-year-old woman from Clarkston was arrested for a string of thefts at multiple Walmart locations in North Idaho.

On Oct. 23 around 8:02 p.m., Moscow police officers were called to a Walmart for a reported theft in progress.

As they arrived on scene, a Walmart Asset Protection employee reported that a white woman with long blonde hair was in the cosmetic section concealing merchandise. She put several items in a cart and walked out of the store without paying.

Leaving the Walmart, the woman reportedly got into the driver’s seat of a black two-door Sedan with deep white scratches and damage on the rear bumper.

As an officer was traveling westbound on Pullman Road, they saw a vehicle that matched the description that the woman was driving. Before turning on their emergency lights, the officer attempted to get closer to the vehicle.

The driver of the mid-1990s black Thunderbird sped up and ran through a red light. They continued to increase speed as the officer turned their emergency lights.

In a 35 mile per hour zone, the driver reached a speed of 65-75 miles per hour. The officer ended their pursuit of the vehicle as they were driving recklessly through traffic.

As law enforcement reviewed surveillance footage from Walmart, the woman was said to have stolen a total of $239.34 in merchandise. She was said to have taken: a flashlight, two-pack of Hart 20V batteries, two 2.6 ounce Dove shampoos, shaving gel, two packs of Intuition women’s razors and other items.

The Moscow Police Department put out a Facebook post to hopefully identify the suspect. On Oct. 24 a resident from Lewiston and the manager of an Ulta Beauty in Clarkston called and helped identify her.

Confirming with surveillance footage, the suspect was identified as 26-year-old Amanda Schroeder.

As law enforcement looked through her file they found that she was a suspect in a theft at a Walmart in Clarkston on Oc.19. With security photos provided, the Moscow Police Department confirmed that she was a match.

Schroeder was listed as homeless in Clarkston, Washington with a non-working phone number. She has a long criminal history in both Nez Perce and Idaho counties.

On Jan. 2, Amanda Schroeder made her first appearance in Latah County Court for these incidents. Her next hearing is scheduled for Jan. 11 at 10 a.m.
