PONDERAY, Idaho — Avalanche danger in north Idaho mountains has been rated as “Moderate” as of Sunday morning.
According to the Idaho Panhandle Avalanche Center, below freezing temperatures and clear skies overnight led to a decent snowpack refreeze on the mountains, helping slow the wet snow problems.
IPAC says slopes facing east through south to west could soften during the day from sunny skies and warming temperatures.
People should pay attention to how supportive snow surfaces are and limit travel near steep terrain if you see rollerballs, wet snow sluffs, or sink past boot tops into rotten snow.
