SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — The Spokane County Medical Examiner has identified the body that was found on Thursday in Valleyford.

48-year-old Jannell Martensen was found dead in the 12000 block of south Madison Road in Valleyford, Washington on Dec. 14.

Martensen had disappeared in November and was put on the City of Spokane’s missing persons list but her name was later removed.

At this time, the medical examiner has not released her cause or manner of death.

Jannell Martensen was mentioned in court documents related to the double homicide in Spokane’s Minnehaha neighborhood. 25-year-old Brandon Kenny admitted to killing Kiara Morgan-Weiland and 37-year-old Colton Russell.

Kenny also told investigators that he accidently killed Martensen in November and threatened Russell at the time to help him move the body. It was also mentioned that Russell was dating Martensen when this occurred.

After hiding her body, Kenny told investigators he decided to kill Russell and “needed” to kill Morgan-Weiland because they were the only people that knew about the situation.

At this time, Kenny has not appeared in front of a Spokane County District Court judge but is scheduled to make a first appearance Tuesday afternoon.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available. Check back for updates.
