SPOKANE, Wash. — A man was sentenced to more than five years in prison for setting multiple fires around Spokane last summer.
According to the Spokane County Prosecutor’s Office, 38-year-old Chad A. Horne pleaded guilty to three counts of second-degree arson and was sentenced to 63 months in prison.
The charges stem from a series of fires that were set in Kendall Yards, Downtown Spokane and East Central Spokane on July 8, 2025.
Court documents said Horne was caught on surveillance video throwing items and knocking over planters on West Summit Parkway. He was then seen at another spot on West Summit Parkway. A short time later, a fire was reported at that location.
After that, investigators saw a pattern of Horne being at a location followed by reports of a fire at that location. This went on for several hours, with fires reported at South Sherman Street, Spokane Falls Boulevard, South Chandler Street and South Grant Street.
Several properties were damaged by these fires, but no one was injured.
The Prosecutor’s Office says Horne admitted to setting a number of fires when he was arrested a few days later.
