SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane police have blocked off Pettet Drive and Augusta Avenue Tuesday morning after they found a partially clothed man dead in the road.

According to Lt. Terry Preuninger, at 5:30 a.m. this morning a caller contacted Spokane police and alerted them that they saw a partially naked man lying in the road unresponsive.

As medics arrived on scene they performed life-saving measures but were unable to resuscitate the man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preuninger mentioned that medics believe that the man may have been involved in a hit and run crash sometime that morning. But at this time SPD is not calling this incident a hit and run.

Spokane police have contacted Major Crimes Unit who will continue investigating this incident.

Right now, police have blocked Pettet Drive in both direction at Whistalks Way. This closure may be in place for another two hours while law enforcement continue their investigation.

This is breaking news, information will be updated as we learn more.
