Joya offers playgroups, story time for Spokane families

SPOKANE, Wash. – Joya is a resource in our community that helps babies up to age three thrive. They do custom therapy sessions, have nutritional services, and will even make in-home visits if that’s what works best for the family. They provide care regardless of a family’s ability to pay.

On Saturday, you will have the opportunity to support the nonprofit during on Nonstop Local KHQ Joya Connect Center. You can donate anytime here.

Joya is best known for their special education services and their occupational, speech and physical therapy. But they also host community playgroups.

Hank Harris and his daughter have been attending the playgroups for about a year.

“We had a babysitter and a cousin who had services through Joya, and they said they had community activities,” he said. “It’s nice to feel part of the young, Spokane community with the kids. The story time was her favorite at first but now that she’s a little older, it’s the Monday playtime.”

The Joya playgroups are free, and in addition to story time, they also have a language and learning group, a motor group, and family play time. It’s a week highlight for both the kids and parents.

“She knows the word Joya, we’ll say want to go see friends at Joya and no problem getting into the car seat if that’s what you say first,” Harris said.

Please join us Saturday to help Joya continue to be a resource to local families.
