Investigation continues into fatal shooting involving a Quincy police officer

GRANT COUNTY, Wash. – The Central Basin Investigative Team (CBIT) continues to investigate an officer-involved shooting in Quincy that resulted in a man’s death. On Jan. 8, Quincy police officers responded to the Jackpot Food Mart after receiving reports of a man with a knife. As they arrived on scene, Grant County Sheriff’s Office released that a Quincy officer was stabbed by 24-year-old Jose Rico-Flores in the arm and shoulder.Shots were fired at Flores and was pronounced dead at the scene. The officer who was stabbed suffered non-life threatening injuries.On Jan. 12, Michael Kvavle and Kyle Talley were released to be the two Quincy police officers involved in the incident. The Grant County Coroner conducted an autopsy, according to detectives. Also, the security surveillance video from the Jackpot Food Mart has been entered into evidence and is currently being analyzed.
