Injured marine veteran receives free custom home in Loon Lake

LOON LAKE, Wash. — An Afghanistan veteran received the keys to his brand new custom home completely free of charge this weekend.

Homes for Our Troops specially adapted a home in Loon Lake for Marine Sergeant Joshua Elliott, who was severely injured while serving in Afghanistan.

Sgt. Elliott’s new home includes about forty major ADA accommodations, including wider halls and doorways, automatic door openers, roll-under sinks, stovetops and counters, pull-down shelving, generators and safe rooms.

Homes For Our Troops is a national nonprofit that builds and donates custom homes to severely injured post-9/11 veterans.

Sgt. Elliott got the keys to his new home on Saturday, thanking donors and supporters for allowing him to live his best life.

“I promise to use this home to bring good into the world and show appreciation for the gifts that others have given,” he said.
