OLYMPIA, Wash.- Michael Gallagher, the President and CEO of one of Washington’s most prominent anti-regulation advocacy groups, is stepping down after two years with the organization.

The Washington Policy Center (WPC), which Gallagher led through two legislative sessions, will be led by current Chief Revenue Officer Steven Hatting.

WPC is notable for consistently advocating for lower taxation on Washington businesses and opposing expansions to health care programs throughout the state.

Gallagher states that he is interested in becoming more involved with Artificial Intelligence policy.

“Today, the Pacific Northwest is leading the world in AI innovation with global economic implications and changes that are moving much faster than prior technology shifts,” Gallagher said.

Before working as a lobbyist, Gallagher was an Assistant Secretary with the U.S. Department of Commerce. He will now be primarily focused on his own private consulting firm.
