ROYAL CITY, Wash. – While serving a drug search warrant in Royal City early Wednesday morning, Grant County’s Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team (INET) found an illegal animal fighting operation in Royal City.

Grant County Sheriff’s Office says INET entered a home in the 16000 block of Road C-Southeast around 7 a.m. as part of a several-month-long drug trafficking investigation.

Detectives reportedly found at least 20 roosters modified for cockfighting. The modifications included the removal of their natural spurs, wattles and combs which GCSO says is common for cockfighting roosters.

Knives that are commonly attached to roosters for the purpose of cockfighting were also found by detectives.

GCSO detectives also found a half pound of crystal meth in the raid worth around $3,200 and more than $1,000 cash believed to be connected to drug sales.

A 57-year-old man was arrested at the home for possession of meth with intent to distribute and animal fighting.
