BOISE, Idaho – An Idaho Transportation Department shop superintendent removed a snowplow truck that had become stuck on a railway, avoiding a train collision.

According to a department social media post, Superintendent Jerry Ford was notified by railroad dispatch that an oncoming train would collide with a plow truck that had become stuck due to winter conditions.

The plow had partially detached and was only held to the vehicle by hydraulics. Ford managed to get the vehicle and equipment off the railway before the train sped through.

The Idaho Transportation Department thanked Ford for his work and used the moment to highlight the importance of railway safety during harsh weather conditions.
