Idaho police warn about ‘hitman’ scam calls happening around Idaho County

IDAHO COUNTY, Idaho – The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office has received reports of “hitman” scam calls happening throughout the county.

The Sheriff’s Office warn that citizens are receiving these messages through text message, email and phone.

‘Hitman’ scams are scammers that pretend to be assassins who were hired to take out a “target”. They send the “target” extortion emails and messages promising to spare their life for money.

Deputies warn that if you receive any message like this contact your local sheriff’s office and do not respond in any way or send any money or send any personal information.
