RIGGINS, Idaho – A man was struck by a tree while cutting firewood on March 20 at Allison Creek near Riggins. He died while emergency response tended to him on scene.
The Idaho County Coroner reported that Tyrel Walker was hit on the head by a tree while he was curing a separate tree for firewood at around 1 am.
While an airlift was initially called to transport Walker to a nearby hospital, it was canceled by Riggins Ambulance after lifesaving measures failed to yield results.
The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office offered their condolences to Walker’s family.
