Idaho Democrats running candidates in every legislative district

BOISE, Idaho – The Idaho Democratic Party will run candidates in every legislative district this year following a party push to ensure that every race includes a Democratic challenger.

In a state in which Republicans have occasionally run unopposed, the party is touting a complete list of legislative district candidates moving into 2024 general elections.

Idaho Democratic Party Chair Lauren Necochea touted the increased number of Democratic contenders to voters as a win for democracy.

“As the Republican supermajority descends into extremism, infighting, and chaos, Idaho Democrats from every corner of the state are stepping up to offer voters a choice and hope for the future,” Necochea said.

While Donald Trump is broadly popular amongst Republicans in Idaho, taking home 85 percent of Republican caucus votes in 2024, Necochea also made a pitch to Republican voters uninterested in Trump-aligned candidates.

“While the Idaho Republican Party has become unrecognizable to traditional Republicans, we invite voters of all political stripes to get to know their local Democratic candidates,” Necochea said.

Whether the increased number of Democratic candidates will yield additional party representation in state politics will be determined by voters on Nov. 5.
