Homeowner leaves out packages filled with cat poop to mess with ‘porch pirates’

SPOKANE, Wash. – A Spokane woman, Amber Boudreau, was tired of ‘porch pirates’ in her neighborhood. She developed a plan to get back at the thieves by leaving Amazon packages filled with cat poop.

Boudreau told NonStop Local she had heard many residents in the North-Central part of Spokane fell victim to porch pirates.

In early autumn, the Spokane Police Department told NonStop Local that October through December are typically the peak periods for porch piracy due to the amount of packages being ordered, along with holiday decorations outside homes.

Boudreau cam up with the idea to fill the packages with cat litter around September.

She claims five porch pirates have taken the feces packages right off her porch.

“It’s one of those cases where you can watch a thief get exactly what they deserve… And it’s something I’d be throwing away anyway,” Boudreau said.

Boudreau told NonStop Local she hopes her idea will catch on in order to deter porch pirates from stealing.

Spokane Police continue to urge the public to always report incidents of porch pirating whenever they fall victim.
