LAS VEGAS (AP) — A high-speed rail line between Las Vegas and the Los Angeles area is getting a Biden administration pledge of $3 billion to help start laying track. Nevada’s two Democratic U.S. senators said Tuesday the $12 billion project led by Brightline West has all required right-of-way, environmental and labor approvals. No date was announced for work to start along the Interstate 15 corridor. A Friday event that Brightline plans in Las Vegas may coincide with a visit by President Joe Biden. Planners say 200-mph trains could cut in half a four-hour freeway trip from Las Vegas through Victorville, California, to the San Bernardino County city of Rancho Cucamonga.
