SPOKANE, Wash. — One of the biggest weekends of the year for Spokane has arrived. Bloomsday is this Sunday, and finding ways to get to downtown that day can be a struggle.
Road closures will begin for Bloomsday starting Sunday morning at 5 a.m. They are expected to reopen again around 2 p.m. Other streets along the course will close at 7:30 a.m. and reopen when the final participants are through.
Drivers will still be able to travel on Ash, Maple, Division and Browne, and Hamilton all day.
Parking for Bloomsday will be available at the Spokane Arena and surrounding lots. People are urged to carpool.
If you don’t want to drive yourself, Spokane Transit will offer shuttles at the Northtown Mall, Spokane Valley Mall, Ferris High School, EWU, and the West Plains Transit Center. Shuttles will drop people off at 1st Avenue near Post Street and pickup will be at the same spot.
The shuttle cost is $2 and free for those 18 and younger.
Some of you may look to get a workout in before your workout. The Spokane Bicycle Club is offering free attended bike parking in Riverfront Park at the Red Wagon. That goes from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. You’re advised to bring a bike lock.
