Grant County’s Narcotics Enforcement team recover $5,000 worth of drugs during traffic stop near Moses Lake

MOSES LAKE, Wash. — Grant County’s Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team (INET) arrested two people after finding 500 fentanyl pills and two ounces of cocaine during a traffic stop on I-90 near Moses Lake.

On Nov. 22 around 8 p.m., Grant County Sheriff’s Office and Washington State Patrol pulled over a pick-up truck and issued a search warrant.

While searching the truck, INET found 500 suspected fentanyl pills and two ounces of cocaine. The street value of the cocaine is $2,500 and the pills are about $2,000.

44-year-old Jonathan Atabelo and 26-year-old Yasmine Stevens were arrested for possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. Both have been booked into Grant County Jail.

In 2023, INET has investigated seven overdose deaths in Grant County. According to the Addictions, Drug and Alcohol Institute at the University of Washington, in 2022 there were over 1,800 overdose deaths in Washington.

In comparison, in 2021 there were 1,200, 679 in 2020 and 341 in 2019.
