GRANT COUNTY, Wash. – According to the Grant County Health District (GCHD), there have been two influenza-associated deaths and three CFOVID-19 deaths this season.

The GCHD continues to monitor this year’s respiratory virus trends and has seen an increase in COVID-19-related hospitalizations at the end of January.

Between Jan. 21 and Jan. 27, COVID-19 accounted for 4.7% of hospitalizations in Grant County.

GCHD continues to monitor the respiratory illness activity within healthcare and long-term facilities.

But as the respiratory illness season continues, the GCHD recommends that you avoid visiting healthcare facilities, especially long-term care (LTC) facilities or vulnerable individuals if you are experiencing any respiratory symptoms.

Grant County Health also recommends that anyone visiting an LTC facility must wear a protective mask since LTC and hospital residents are the most vulnerable to respiratory viruses.

GCHD also recommends that if you do come in contact with someone with COVID-19 or the flu, wear a mask and monitor symptoms. If you are not feeling well, stay home and test as soon as possible. For more information on isolating click here.

If you do test positive for COVID-19, GCHD recommends that you isolate for at least five days after your first symptoms appear and can leave isolation after five full days if your symptoms are improving and have not had a fever for 24 hours.
