Governor of Connecticut declares University of Idaho Day

HARTFORD, Connecticut – Governor of Connecticut declares that March 28, will be University of Idaho Day after the university stepped in at the NCAA tournament to help cheer on Yale.

The University of Yale traveled to Spokane to take narrowly take down Auburn and lose in the second round to the San Diego State Aztecs.

Although some might credit that first-round win against the Tigers to the University of Idaho.

Yale’s marching band unfortunately could not make it to Spokane in time for the tournament and a local university didn’t miss the chance to step in and help out.

In the official statement Governor Ned Lamont expressed his gratitude “the University of Idaho Student Band, in a display of generosity and sportsmanship, acted swiftly to learn the Yale Fight Song, Bulldog.” said Lamont.

The statement also explained the new nickname “VanDogs” in support of both schools’ effort in achieving the first-round win.

In closing remarks of the statement, “I Ned Lamont, Governor of the State of Connecticut, in gratitude to the students of the University of Idaho band, the Sound of Idaho, do hereby officially proclaim Thursday, March 28, 2024 as University of Idaho Day.” said Lemont.
