OLYMPIA, Wash. – Governor Jay Inslee has tested positive for COVID-19.

According to the Governor’s Office, he is experiencing only mild symptoms and will continue to work virtually.

Inslee was reportedly exposed to someone with COVID before receiving his booster shot on Wednesday, and he tested positive the morning of Sept. 28.

“We are so appreciative that we have this vaccine that has the ability to keep you out of the hospital or worse,” Inslee said after testing positive. “I’m glad I received it and encourage others to take advantage.”

Inslee was set to make multiple appearances in Spokane on Thursday, including a presentation at the L&I Health and Safety Conference, a tour of Lumen High School, and celebrating the funding secured for short-line railroad improvements. It is unclear if or how Inslee will attend these events.

This is the third time Inslee has tested positive for COVID, with previous bouts in May 2022 and Feb. 2023.
