Gonzaga Men’s Basketball Guard Steele Venters out for season

SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga Bulldog guard Steele Venters’ highly anticipated debut season at GU has come to an abrupt end before it even had a chance to begin.

According to a report from Jeff Goodman, the former Eastern Washington Eagle and Big Sky Conference MVP suffered a season-ending knee injury earlier this week during practice just two days before the Zags opened their regular season.

The news comes as a significant blow to both Venters and to a Gonzaga team that already lacks depth. The Former Eagle was expected to play a key role in the team’s success this season with his score ability. Last season in, Cheney Venters averaged 15.3 points per game while shooting 37.1% from three-point range.

The Ellensburg native was projected to start this Friday against Yale, but now Mark Few and his staff will be forced to scramble and come up with another game plan.
