Flags will fly at half-staff to honor former Spokane Mayor Jack Geraghty

SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane Mayor Nadine Woodward has ordered that all flags at City facilities be lowered to half-staff in remembrance of former Spokane Mayor Jack Geraghty.

Jack Geraghty served as mayor from 1994 to 1997. He died on Dec. 7 at the age of 89 with his family by his side.

“Mayor Geraghty made a tremendous impact during his service to the City and his continued commitment to Spokane long after he left office,” said Mayor Woodward. “His reputation as a passionate community ambassador is his lasting legacy. We are saddened by his passing and celebrate his many gifts to Spokane.”

All flags will be at half-staff at City Hall, including the Irish flag. It is recommended that if you have flags outside your home or business to join and honor Mayor Geraghty.

Also, Woodward has proclaimed today, Dec. 20, as Jack Geraghty Day. As Mayor Geraghty made a tremendous impact as a hard-working, talented, well-respected and dedicated community member.
