Five fatal collisions have occurred on Washington roads in last week

SPOKANE, Wash.- Data released by Washington State Patrol (WSP) shows that there have been five fatal collisions across the state since Feb. 15.

In addition to fatal crashes, there have been 209 drunk driver arrests and over 2,000 identified aggressive drivers in the past week.

According to the US Department of Transportation, 31 percent of deadly crashes involve a drunk driver.

Over 600 collisions have also been recorded since last Thursday. WSP hopes that their reports will encourage more responsible driving.

“Help create safe roads for everyone by making good choices every time you get behind the wheel,” WSP said.

Simple actions such as wearing a seatbelt and driving sober drastically reduce the chances of an individual dying or being seriously injured in a car crash.
