Fire along I-90 causes road closures and delays

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Police Department discovered a fire early Monday morning that quickly spread and resulted in road closures on West 4th Avenue near I-90.

Police alerted fire response teams at around 4:30 a.m. to West 4th Avenue near I-90. The fire caused closures of 4th Avenue from Brown to Division.

The exit near the fire remains open however, crews are reminding people to slow down and stay alert.

Fire crews on the scene described the bushes on fire as ‘gasoline’ due to them being arborvitae bushes. They used a variety of both water and foam to help contain the fire and are currently still on the scene.

There are no known injuries at this time, and a timeline for reopening the road has not been given.
