Fight, stabbing involving Wahluke students under investigation in Mattawa

MATTAWA, Wash. – An off-campus fight involving Wahluke High School students that ended in a stabbing on March 21 is under investigation.

Mattawa Police responded to the fight around 3:07 p.m. near the intersection of River View Avenue and Saddle Mountain Drive and a group of juveniles ran from the area as police arrived.

The Wahluke School District confirmed in a social media post that students were involved in the incident.

According to Mattawa PD, officers responded to the same area for a reported stabbing around 3:24 p.m. The stabbing victim was transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The stabbing was related to the earlier “physical altercation,” according to MPD.

The Wahluke School District issued the following statement on March 21:

Wahluke School District officials are fully cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation of the incident. The safety and well-being of our students is our primary concern, and we are deeply committed to ensuring a safe and secure learning environment for all. We take this matter very seriously and are actively working with authorities to address the situation. We urge anyone with information relevant to the investigation to come forward and assist the authorities. We appreciate the swift response of local law enforcement in handling the situation.
