SPOKANE, Wash. – After being arrested with nearly a dozen guns in his possession, a convicted felon is now facing seven years in federal prison.

In September 2020, Spokane County deputies executed a search warrant on the home 41-year-old Zachary Bennett, who was suspected of owning a firearm and dealing drugs. There, they found Bennett hiding in the attic.

Bennett told deputies he’d ignored the deputies knocking at his door the night before because he knew they’d arrest him, and he did not believe there were guns in the house.

The search turned up drug paraphernalia, ledgers detailing his drug distribution, heroin, hallucinogenic mushrooms, boxes of ammo, and 10 guns, including three AR-15 rifles.

Previously convicted for first-degree burglary and second-degree robbery, Bennett was barred from owning any firearms.

Bennett was sentenced to 84 months in prison, with three additional years of federal supervision upon release.
