Driver dead after hitting path of ice and colliding with propane truck near Moses Lake

MOSES LAKE, Wash. — One person is dead sliding on a patch of ice and crashing into a propane truck near Moses Lake Tuesday morning.

On Nov. 28 around 8:30 a.m., Grant County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a fatal crash on Road 4.2-NE and Road K-NE.

As they arrived on scene they saw a vehicle and a propane truck laying on its side.

The driver of the vehicle was found dead at the scene and the driver of the propane truck was transported to the hospital for non life-threatening injuries.

Through initial investigation, deputies found that as the vehicle was traveling south on Road K-NE as they lost control after encountering ice on the road.

While sliding on the road, the vehicle slid into oncoming traffic and crashed with a bobtail propane truck. Due to impact, the propane truck rolled onto its side and started to leak onto the roadway.

Fire crews closed the roadway and were able to stop the leak quickly.

Roadways are back open as the propane was transferred to another truck.
