Crash in Chelan leaves one dead, one critically injured

CHELAN, Wash. – A collision between two cars on State Route 150 in Chelan left one dead and another driver critically injured on Sunday night.

According to the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office, Mateo Villa-Morales was driving a Honda Accord with his passenger Jose Morales-Rosas and speeding toward a curve on the state route and swerved, causing him to collide with a Toyota Tundra containing five people.

Morales-Rosas was declared dead at the crash site, and Villa-Morales was evacuated to a local hospital via helicopter with life-threatening injuries. The driver and four passengers of the truck were treated at a local hospital for non-critical injuries.

The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident as a potential DUI and vehicular homicide.
