SPOKANE, Wash. – Court documents obtained by NonStop Local provide clarity into what happened during a shooting which occurred during the early hours of Feb. 12. Eric Cid was identified in court documents as the suspect who was shot by police.

The documents detail the nature of the victim and Cid’s relationship. The court information said the victim met Cid through Facebook about a month ago, adding that the victim felt bad for Cid and had allowed him to stay on her couch.

Witness testimony from the victim’s adult son, who was also in the home, said about a week into his stay, Cid started acting “weird” and was “asked to leave.”

This was when things took a turn for the victim; Cid began calling the victim disparaging names while pointing a gun at her. The suspect even said that he was “going to kill her.”

Court documents detailing the interaction escalated further: “Cid holding the victim at gunpoint and restricting her movements.” Then, the documents said Cid shot the victim three times. However, she was still able to call 911. The court information continued to detail the events; Cid shot the victim again and then brought her into her bedroom.

Internal camera footage from inside the home showed Cid sitting on the couch with a gun in his hand as Spokane Police arrived at the scene. The images also revealed that Cid raised his gun and aimed it in the direction of officers.

Gunfire was exchanged between Cid and officers, and the suspect was shot. Officials performed life-saving measures; however, Cid succumbed to his injuries and died on the scene.

This investigation is spearheaded by Washington State Patrol, who, in a statement, said it is still in the early stages, and no further details are available.

NonStop Local was able to confirm the victim successfully went through surgery, is stable and is expected to make a full recovery.
