PARIS — We are about six months away from the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics and the city is getting ready to showcase the best it has to offer!

More than 10,000 Olympic athletes from 206 countries will be flying to Paris to compete in their sport. And then in weeks after that, Paris will host 4,400 Paralympic athletes as well.

The city will be hosting 21-32 Olympic sports with some of them taking place near some of the most iconic landmarks! One sport to keep an eye on is beach volleyball as officials say that it’s going to be held at the foot of the Eiffel Tower.

Can you picture the athletes entering the opening ceremony across the River Seine? Well, on July 26, athletes will be parading on boats as people line up across the bank of the river to see them celebrate the beginning of this special event.

Also, in the River Seine, open water swimmers are set to compete a majority of their races there!

In an interview, 7-time gold medal Olympic swimmer Katie Ledecky says “I knew that the Olympics would be in Paris. I kind of like the idea of that magical feeling of landing in a city that you’ve never been to for the first time.”

Ledecky and all the other athletes are ready to compete in the Olympics at this special event.

On July 26 the opening ceremony will be aired live right here on KHQ NonStop Local!
