COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — The Coeur d’Alene police are warning the public of a scam call circulating the area regarding a missed court date and warrant for their arrest.

There have been multiple reports about residents receiving calls from a scammer saying they are with the Coeur d’Alene Police Department. The victims are told that they’ve missed a court date and that there is a warrant out for their arrest.

Scammers then ask the victims for personal information and demand money to resolve the warrant. If victims are not cooperating, the scammers allegedly threaten arrest.

Police would like to remind the public that officers will never call you asking for money to satisfy any legal process. They also will only collect limited personal information for investigative purposes.

These scams are common and often ask the victims for money in various forms like gift cards or money orders.

If you or anyone you know receive a suspicious call, hang up and call the Coeur d’Alene Police Department at (208) 769-2320.
