Coeur d’Alene police arrest man after he threatened people with sword

COEUR d’ALENE, Idaho – A man is in custody following a SWAT standoff in downtown Coeur d’Alene.

Around 3:35 p.m. on Oct. 5, officers with the Coeur d’Alene Police Department responded to several reports of a man threatening people with what appeared to be a sword near the 200 block of North 10th Street. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the suspect returned home. Coeur d Alene police said they secured the area and called SWAT after the suspect was uncooperative with law enforcement.

When SWAT arrived, the suspect came out of his home and was taken into custody without further incident.

33-year-old Brian Craig was booked into the Kootenai County Public Safety Building on two counts of Aggravated Assault. This incident remains an ongoing investigation.

The Coeur d’Alene Police Department and SWAT are surrounding a home in downtown Coeur d’Alene.

Witnesses on scene told NonStop Local that a man is locked inside a home near 10th and Coeur d’Alene Street. It is unclear if the man has weapons but witnesses say the man might have a sword.
