Coast Guard rescues 5 people from flooding waters near Rosburg

ROSBURG, Wash. – The United States Coast Guard rescued five people on Tuesday after high amounts of rain led to flooding conditions in western Washington.

Around 10:20 a.m. on Dec. 5, Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector Columbia River received a helicopter support request from the Cathlament Fire Department. They were told four people were allegedly trapped in their home near Rosburg with four feet of water surrounding it.

The United States Coast Guard said air support arrived on the scene around 11:08 a.m., where they found an individual stuck on a truck in flood waters. The aircrew rescued them and four others in a flooded house and transported them to Coast Guard Air Station Astoria, where they would receive emergency medical services.

According to the United States Coast Guard, all people rescued are in stable condition.
