SPOKANE, Wash. – The City of Spokane Solid Waste Disposal Department will offer tours of its Waste to Energy facility in early April.

The tours, which will take place on April 1 and April 4, will offer attendees a look at the unique facility. It is the only waste to energy operation of its kind in Washington State.

“Explore where we burn trash at temperatures reaching 2,000 degrees and harness steam to generate enough electricity to power 13,000 homes,” the city said.

Tours will be available at 11 am and 1 pm. Those interested in attending can sign-up online.
