PULLMAN, Wash. — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is donating 35,657 pounds of shelf-stable food to local nonprofits serving Pullman and the surrounding communities through a drive through event on June 4th.
The donation is intended to help food banks and nonprofit partners meet increased demand for emergency food assistance as local pantries continue to face high demand.
According to the church, this delivery of food helps stabilize local food supplies at times of need. The food comes through the Church’s welfare and humanitarian system.
The Pullman Stake which is a collection of five local congregations of The Church of Jesus Christ pf Latter-day Saints in Whitman County is organizing the event.
The fifteen nonprofit organizations that will receive food are:

Shelf-stable food, including canned goods, grains, dried beans, and pasta, is increasingly difficult for food banks and pantries to obtain.
These items store longer, move efficiently through distribution networks, and are especially critical for rural and emergency delivery.
A donation of this scale will supply approximately 29,700 meals across the greater Pullman area.
