SPOKANE, Wash. – Starting on Tuesday May 28, a section of the Children of the Sun Trail will be closed for finishing touches.
According to the Washington Department of Transportation the section will be closed at the Garland Avenue overcrossing of the North Spokane Corridor until June 21.
The trail opened up to the public in December of 2023 on a temporary basis due to winter conditions but now will be closed for just under one month.
“Now that warmer weather has returned to the region, the contractor began last week on connection plazas in the Hillyard Neighborhood and will start next week on the finishing touches for the bridge” WSDOT said.
The opening date for the bridge will align with the community celebration and ribbon cutting for Wildhorse Park. Additional details about the event will be provided at a later date.
Alternate routes while the bridge is closed are available via Euclid Avenue.
