CASHMERE, Wash. — A 17-year-old Cashmere teen was arrested for threatening to shoot up Cashmere High School Wednesday evening, authorities confirmed in a release Thursday morning.

According to the release from the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office, the teen told a fellow CHS student during an after-school event that he planned to “shoot up the school,” saying he would shoot that student first.

The student reported the incident to her principal, who let the sheriff’s office know about it.

Detectives investigated the threats and learned the student gave specific details on how he planned to attack the school.

Later Wednesday evening, deputies with the sheriff’s office arrested the student and booked him into the Chelan County Juvenile Justice Center.

Thursday morning’s release said the sheriff’s office “has no reason to believe there are any additional threats to the safety of the public or students.”
