QUINCY, Wash. — The Central Basin Investigative Team (CBIT) has been assigned to conduct a use of force investigation into a shooting that occurred on Monday night in Quincy.

On Jan. 8 around 9:20 p.m., Quincy police officers responded to Jackpot Food Mart after receiving reports of a man with a knife.

According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO), when officers arrived on the scene and tried to approach the man, an officer was stabbed in the arm and shoulder.

Shots were fired at the suspect who allegedly stabbed the officer. The suspect was pronounced dead on scene and the officer suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The Quincy Police Department requested that BCIT conduct the rest of the investigation. Quincy PD is no longer involved in this case.

According to a release from GCSO, “this investigation will include two civilian community members who will be kept apprised of the investigation and attend briefings with CBIT and Quincy Police administrators. Once the suspect is identified, a family liaison will be assigned to the suspect’s family to help explain the processes of CBIT and how the investigation is unfolding.”

All new information will be released to the public weekly on the Grant County Sheriff’s office Facebook page.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available. Check back for updates.
