Celebrate Homecoming in style with bouquets that don’t break the budget!

SPOKANE, Wash. – It’s homecoming season, and that means celebrating in style with the customary corsage and boutonnieres! That doesn’t mean you have to break the budget on flowers, though.

If you’re confused about which is which, you aren’t alone! But it helps to remember boutonnieres began as a floral accent small enough to fit through the buttonhole of a suit.

Now that we’re sure which is which, it’s time to focus on what style suits you and your date! Susan Matteson, owner of Peters and Sons Flowers and Gift in Spokane, provided some helpful tips.

The most important factor in picking out a corsage or boutonniere is the colour of your date’s outfit. Flowers should compliment the dress or suit.

Once you’ve got the color sorted, it’s time to look at style. For corsages, slap-on wristbands are very popular and easily get the job done, but there are other options, such as tie-on or fancier jewelry options.

If budget is your main concern, Matteson suggests a timeless option.

“The most affordable way to impress your date is a simple rose,” she said. “We wrap the rose up with greens and accent flowers and add a beautiful bow to the package. It just makes the event that much more special!”

If roses aren’t your thing, or you’re looking to send a different message with your flowers of choice, there are other options to consider! From orchids to agapanthus, there are plenty of beautiful ways to customize the look of your floral accessories, so don’t be afraid to go for something less standard.
