Cause of death determined for driver that flew off cliff in Wenatchee

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Grant County Coroner’s Office determined the cause of death for a driver that flew off a 1,000-foot cliff in east Wenatchee on Saturday.

The 55-year-old man died from what they say was a suicide.

According to officials the car was spotted around 4:10 p.m. on Saturday May 18, on a shale slide 100 feet from the shore of the Columbia River.

Deputies believe he drove off the cliff near Crescent Bar sometime overnight on Friday or early Saturday.

For privacy reasons the driver will not be named.
