Boundary County Sheriff’s Office rule out foul play after body was found in Bonners Ferry on Monday

BONNERS FERRY, Idaho — The Boundary County Sheriff’s Office have determined that the body found in a wooded area in Bonners Ferry was not due to foul play.

On Oct. 16 around 1 p.m., the Bonners Ferry Police Department responded to a call from four high school students.

The students said they believe that there was a body in a wooded area just south of a Safeway in Bonners Ferry.

Once police arrived, they confirmed that there was a dead man in that location.

The area where the body was located was in county jurisdiction, just out of city limits. This incident was tuned over to Boundary County Sheriff’s Office and they began investigating.

The man was identified as 52-year-old John Belile from Naples, Idaho. It was determined that he died form a single, self-inflicted gunshot wound.

On Oct. 17, the sheriff’s office ruled out foul play and believe that the death occurred sometime Sunday evening.

This is an ongoing investigation, information will be updated as we learn more.
