
Spokane, WASH. — The 50th running of the Bloomsday Run is underway in downtown Spokane! More than 41,000 runners lined up along Main Avenue to enjoy the 12 kilometer race that winds along Riverside and Government Way before runners face the dreaded Doomsday Hill. Finishers will be able to pick up their t-shirts after the finish line on Monroe Street.
Road closures are in effect until around 2 p.m. Other streets along the course closed at 7:30 a.m. and will reopen when the final participants are through.
Drivers will still be able to travel on Ash, Maple, Division and Browne, and Hamilton all day.
Parking for Bloomsday is be available at the Spokane Arena and surrounding lots. People are urged to carpool.
Spokane Transit is offering shuttles at the Northtown Mall, Spokane Valley Mall, Ferris High School, EWU, and the West Plains Transit Center. Shuttles will drop people off at 1st Avenue near Post Street and pickup will be at the same spot.
The shuttle cost is $2 and free for those 18 and younger.
