SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – A man was traveling via bike when a car struck and killed him this morning in Spokane Valley.

The collision happened near S. Evergreen Road near the Appleway Trail according to Spokane Valley deputies.

Spokane Valley Fire provided medical treatment when they arrived, but the bicyclist was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

There was an adult male driver and an adult female passenger. They both remained on scene and were cooperative with police.

The rider was attempting to cross at Evergreen Road after traveling east on Appleway Trail.

Allegedly the rider did not stop before attempting to cross and also did not use the flashing pedestrian crossing signal.

The driver cooperated for the entire investigation and Spokane Valley Police Department say they don’t believe that impairment and speed were a factor.

The Spokane Medical Examiner’s Office will release cause of death and other information at a later time.
